Real-time screen translation

Read any screen, in your language.

OverTranslate is a hidden Windows overlay that reads the non-English text on your screen and renders the translation right where it sits, whether games, manga, or dashboards, powered by Overshoot vision streams.

Toggle the overlay anytime with Ctrl + Alt + O Global shortcut, works from any app · Free & open source
What it does

Translation that stays
on the screen with you.

No copy-paste, no switching windows. OverTranslate watches the region you pick, finds the foreign text, and draws clean translated captions in place, then gets out of your way.

Translated boxes are positioned exactly over the original text and rendered in a click-through overlay, so the underlying app stays fully interactive while you read.
On first launch the WebView2 screen picker lets you choose exactly which display or window to publish through your Overshoot stream.
Ctrl + Alt + O shows or hides the overlay from any app. Hiding stops completions immediately.
Hiding the overlay keeps the stream warm for 30 seconds in case you flip back, then tears it down automatically so nothing runs when you are not looking.
How it works

Three steps from install
to a translated screen.

1

Add your key once

Paste your Overshoot API key on first run. It is stored in Windows Credential Manager by the Rust backend, never in the frontend.

2

Pick a screen

Choose the display or window to capture. OverTranslate opens an Overshoot stream and publishes it through LiveKit.

3

Press Ctrl+Alt+O

The click-through overlay appears, validates each translated box, and paints captions over the original text in real time.

Your key never touches the frontend.

The Overshoot API key is held by the Rust backend through Windows Credential Manager, not the Tauri store, not local storage, not the WebView. The overlay only ever sees translated boxes.
